In the estimation of David Axelrod, Mr Mahama’s vision and loyal service to Africa makes him the best placed to provide the strong proven leadership Ghana needs.
“I don’t know what happened in Ghana during the 2016 presidential election, but if the people here were to vote, I am sure majority would have voted for you,” Mr Axelrod said amid applause from the audience.

Former President Mahama arrived in the United States of America three days ago as a guest speaker at a number of prestigious American universities and Civil Society groups.
So far, Mr Mahama has mounted platforms at Boston University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology Harvard, Chicago University, and Institute of Politics among others.
He has also had meetings with notable Africans such as the Mrs Folorunso Alakija, one of the richest Africans, Jesse Jackson, heads of tertiary institutions and Ghanaian students studying in various schools he visited.
Opposition leader, Nana Akufo-Addo was declared winner of last December’s tightly contested presidential polls.
Mr Akufo-Addo, from the New Patriotic Party, won the election on his third attempt to reach the presidency, after a campaign dominated by the country's faltering economy.
The Electoral Commission declared Nana Akufo-Addo the winner, with 53.85% of the votes, while Mr Mahama took 44.40%. Turnout was at 68.62%. Read Full Story
