#VGMA2017 to air on DSTV & GOtv this weekend

The Vodafone Ghana Music Awards 2017 will air live on GOtv and DStv on Saturday, April 8. The biggest event on Ghana’s music calendar, it will be hosted by a female for the very first time (Starr FM’s Anita Erskine).

Rapper E.L looks to retain the crown as Artist of the Year, but he would have to fend off competition from fellow heavyweights Sarkodie, MzVee, Stonebwoy, Joe Mettle, and AMG Business’ Medikal.

The awards for the Hip Hop artiste and Gospel Artiste of the Year awards sponsored by GOtv and DStv. Coverage begins on Africa Magic channel 102 from 8:30pm.

Instituted in 2000, the coveted prize of Overall Artist of the Year has been won by Kojo Antwi (2001), Lord Kenya (2002), Kontihene (2003), V.I.P (2004), Obour (2005), Ofori Amponsah (2006), Samini (2007), Kwaw Kese (2008), Okyeame Kwame (2009), Sarkodie (2010), V.I.P (2011), Sarkodie (2012), R2Bees (2013), Shatta Wale (2014), Stonebwoy (2015), and EL (2016).
