The mistake, according to officials of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) occurred while the government was making attempts to clean the payroll of ghost names by enforcing that all public sector workers get validated biometrically by Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT).
On May Day, President Nana Akufo-Addo announced that close to 27,000 ghosts have been expunged from the payroll saving the country about GHS 450million.
But the teachers say some of their members have been mistakenly affected.
The anomaly will be remedied by May 15.
