Don’t see blind children as evil – Methodist Bishop

Right Reverend Dr Nathan Iddrisu Samwini, the Bishop of Methodist Church, Tamale Diocese, has urged parents and guardians of blind children not to see them as evil because of their blindness.

He appealed to them to send those children to school to enable them to develop their talents and contribute to the socio-economic development of Ghana.

The Bishop was speaking during the launch of the 60th Anniversary of the Wa Methodist School for the Blind on theme: “Sixty Years of Educating the Blind: Prospects, Challenges and the Way Forward”.

Bishop Samwini urged government to distribute educational resources to special schools to facilitate teaching and learning.

He appealed to the Regional Coordinating Council to ensure the re-surfacing of the Wa Methodist School for the Blind to prevent erosion, which results in the students suffering from injuries through frequent slips and falling.

Mr Amidu Chinnia Issahaku, the Acting Upper West Regional Minister, commended the school for producing high profile personalities who had contributed to Ghana’s development agenda.

He named such persons as Dr Bashiru Iddirisu Koray, an International Lawyer and a Chief State Attorney at the Attorney General Department, and Dr Henry Seidu Daanaa, the former Minister of Chieftaincy and Traditional Affairs among others. Read Full Story
