The player is currently said to be based in Norway where he is trying to put body as soul together through working outside the football field.
The 27-year-old cancelled his contract with Accra Hearts of Oak four seasons ago and found greener pastures with Serbian SuperLiga side, FK Donji Srem where he made 19 appearances during the 2014-15 season.
Abubakar who made 84 appearances for the Rainbow club, signed three years contract with the Serbian club but injuries has forced him to abandon his playing career for menial jobs in Norway.
A close source to the player confirmed to Graphic Sports online that his recurrent injury has pushed him out of the pitch to pursue a different career off the field.
“He has stopped playing and he is now working in Norway to enable him get some income to support his family” the source said.
