The Minister on Thursday, February 7 embarked on an inspection tour of the facility to assess renovation works being undertaken by the government.
The Minister after touring the facility described the work done by the contractor as ‘impressive’ but also hinted of possible extension of the deadline for the completion of the project due to the amount of work left.
Isaac Asiamah intimated that the project which will house a football field, tartan tracks, volleyball/basketball Courts, ICT/Counselling Centres and a restaurant when completed will not only provide a platform for people to show their talents but will also be consistent with Azumah’s position in Ghana’s sporting history.
“It’s very impressive. Very soon we are going to have a monument that befits the status of Professor Barima Azuma Nelson. You know this facility has been named after him. This place has been named after him so we are going to have a youth and sports centre of excellence that befits his status. So we are happy and proud that work is on going”.
“This place faced peculiar site conditions. As we all can see more demolition took place because there was an existing facility there. So demolition affected the condition entirely. But the fact that the contractor is seriously working if the need comes that he asks for an extension time, why not because we want to have quality work done not rushing”, he said.
The Minister has so far inspected nine resource centres with Yendi set to be the last destination of the inspection tour Read Full Story
