Sergeant Fuseini Mohamuda shot himself because, according to a suicide note he left behind, he could not take the disgrace associated with a probe into his alleged thievery.
Together with a colleague and four civilian accomplices, namely: Usif Musah, Usif Sulley, Abdulai Issah and Joseph Baidoo, the deceased officer was being investigated for stealing a six-burner gas stove, four-burner electric stove, three double-door fridges and five air conditioners, all of which were found in a Mercedes-Benz cargo truck with registration number NR 991 P, which, according to intelligence, was used for the heist.
A police situational report said Sergeant Mohamuda with badge no. 37400G “shot himself dead with an AK-47” after he sent CPL Iddrisu Kafando Muntari, badge no. 551484L, with whom he was on duty at the time, to buy him a shaving blade on Saturday, 23 March 2019.
Sergeant Mohamudu’s short suicide note read: “I cannot take this disgrace [about] something I don’t know.”
He was found “lying in a supine position in a pool of blood, dead, with the rifle by his legs.”
His remain has been transported to Police Hospital Morgue in Accra for preservation and autopsy.
