Kafui Agbleze, Regional Communications Officer for the Party said in a release copied to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that Power Distribution Services (PDS) Limited confirmed the widespread blackout in a communique, and was enough compelling evidence for the Electoral Commission (EC) to consider an extension of its exercise.
"The communiqué by PDS is a testament to the fact that there were difficulties with the registration exercise in Volta on Tuesday and Wednesday, which is not the doing of those who wish to register.
"We, therefore, call on Madam Jean Mensah and the Electoral Commission to extend the number of days for the registration exercise in Oti and Volta to make for the hours lost due to the power outages in the region as confirmed by PDS", he stated.
Power outages were recorded in the two regions on Tuesday, June 18, and lasted well over 24 hours in most areas.
