Speaking, the Marketing & Communications Manager, Miss Abena Nyantakyiwaa Chrappah stated, “Our vision as a college, is not only to be the leader in creative education in Africa, but also to re-orient mindsets about careers in the creative industry. Tonight, we took another step forward towards this vision with what our students showcased.”
Claudia Lumor, founder of Glitz, also encouraged the graduating students and wished them well in their fashion design journey.
The emerging graduates in the Advanced Certificate in Fashion Design programme showcased a collection each to the admiration of family, friends and specially invited guests.
This was then followed by 162 Certificate in Fashion Design graduates, showcasing their pieces based on the theme Retro Green. The graduating designers used fashion to speak to the original state of the earth, the destruction caused by our lifestyles and the restoration we hope to see in our environment.
To crown it all was the exciting Vlisco Competition. 15 students, who have shown excellence in their work throughout their stay at JACCD, were tasked to create their own collection using Vlisco fabrics. Their showcase, gave a spectacular view of the future of fashion design in Ghana.
Indeed, JACCD proved why it is the leading fashion design college in Ghana.
