Ghana would be facing the Bafana Bafana of South Africa on Thursday in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier at the Cape Coast Stadium after their botched campaign in Egypt earlier this year.
However, the Swansea City ace has promised to return the country to winning ways by assisting in shaping the psyche of his teammates to ensure they perform well
“As leader of the side, it is my responsibility to psyche my colleagues and make sure that we make our nation proud”, the 30-year-old said.
He explained that playing for the national team exerts a lot of pressure on them but that notwithstanding they were determined to deliver.
“You don’t play in the national team without pressure… then you don’t know what is ahead of you. A football player is one who wants to get back from setback. We want to do well for our country and we want to qualify from this group”, he noted.
He added that it was their duty to make the nation proud and admitted that they may not sometimes get it right but they are determined to raise the flag of the country high again.
“There is always a responsibility on us to make sure we make our country proud. We accept this responsibility. We won’t always get it right but are determined to be up there again”, he stated.
