According to her, such purchases would make the Christmas celebrations a "made in Ghana season".
Mrs Ahinkorah made this known when she addressed the first Farmers Day celebration since the elevation of the Assembly to municipal status.
A total of 10 awards were presented to individuals, groups and institutions which had excelled as farmers in the period under review.
Mr Kwadwo Addo, a 47-year-old vegetable farmer was crowned the overall best farmer of the Ayawaso West Municipal Assembly, while the James Camp Prison picked up the Best Farming Institution award.
The Director of Political Affairs at the office of the Chief of Staff, Mr Frank Asiedu Bekoe who chaired the event congratulated all the award winners and the farmers.
He also urged residents to supplement their incomes by using spaces in their homes to grow edible plants and raise livestock.
