The Founder of King Faisal, Alhaji Karim Gruzah, confirmed the news of Addo’s signing to Graphic Sports Online and revealed that the Egypt 2009 FIFA U-20 World Cup gold medalist had been signed alongside other seasoned players to beef up the team ahead of their season-opener against Dawu-based Dreams FC on Sunday, December 29.
He expressed the hope that Kumasi fans would give King Faisal a rousing welcome after they were relegated to the Division One League in the 2016/17 season, having already paid a courtesy call on the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, to brief him on the club’s return to the Ghana Premier League and its intention to use the Baba Yara Stadium as home grounds.
“I have already informed Otumfuo Osei Tutu II about King Faisal’s return to the elite league and our resolve to make a big impact as we return to the Baba Yara Stadium.
"The Asantehene was happy about our return, and urged us to be outstanding in our output,” he noted.
Hitherto, rumours were rife that instead of the Baba Yara Stadium which had been the home grounds of King Faisal, they would move to Assin Fosu in the Central Region.
“Coach Anthony Commey, who was formerly with New Edubiase, is now in charge of King Faisal and says the presence of Daniel Addo in King Faisal will motivate the young ones to put up a splendid performance when the league begins.
"We are looking forward to the arrival of other experienced players and assure our fans that their presence will put King Faisal in a better position to compete favourably in the Premier League,” Alhaji Gruzah said.
Touching on his negotiation with Mr Kennedy Agyepong over the change of ownership and the use of Assin Fosu as their home grounds, Alhaji Gruzah said they were yet to finalise the arrangement.
“The discussion with Mr Agyepong on the change of ownership is yet to be finalised. He requested for a budget to that effect but we are yet to present it.
“We are working around the clock to meet his request and as soon as we finalise the negotiations, we will let you know about it,” he explained.
