Interestingly, the songs ‘Ups and Downs’ and ‘Drip’ were a deviation from the banter as both artistes after sustaining the beef swerved music enthusiast. Followers of these two artistes expected the much-publicized songs fan to flame the lyrical battle only to listen and realize they were mere commercial songs.
Competing in the Hip-hop Song of the Year category are ‘Don’t Be Late’ by Kofi Mole, ‘Dondo remix’ by Kwaw Kese ft Mr. Eazi, Skonti, Sarkodie and Medikal, La Familia by Joey B ft Kwesi Arthur and Sarkodie, ‘Bleeding’ by Sarkodie, ‘Mind Your Business’ by Eno Barony.
Also grabbing a nomination is ‘Thoughts of King Arthur 5’ by Kwesi Arthur.
Meanwhile out of the many gospel songs that were released, six are up for the Gospel Song of the Year award at this year’s VGMAs.
They are ‘Agbebolo’ by Celestine Donkor, ‘Mehia Wo Yesu’ by Joe Mettle, ‘Repent’ by Joyce Blessing, ‘Hallelujah’ by MOG Music and ‘Mpaebo’ by Nacee.
Diana Hamilton who won both Gospel Artiste of the Year and Gospel Song of the Year at the 20th edtion looks forward to defending her title as her record ‘W’asem’ has also been nominated.
