A member of the Communication team who pled anonymity in confirming the news to MyNewsGh.com explained that, although they have always remained calm and mute over their being under-resourced, the government in its appointment in the past years has deliberately sidelined them and as a matter of concern, they cannot allow the practice to fester hence their decision to embark on a sit-down strike to drive home their concerns.
“We propagate the achievements of government to the masses but ask yourself, what has government invested in us? What is government’s achievements in us? Sometimes, we buy our own fuel to represent the party on radio and Tv stations because we love the party but at least, some of our members need to be appreciated if not we the young ones.
"See, as at now, have you heard of any appointment for let’s say our Regional Secretary, Sam Pyne who is always on radio? Have you heard of any appointment for any of our senior communicators like Dennis Kwakwa or Yaw Opoku Mensah Bishop and Micheal Essel Mills?
"They need to give us hope and assurances that if you serve the party diligently, you will be rewarded as such. We are on a sit-down strike and until they remedy our concerns, they should send the Accra people to come and do the job. It’s like if you don’t go to Accra or if you are not in Accra, you don’t matter and you won’t be recognized.” He stated in an agitated manner.
However, the regional executives of the party have since represented the government on various media platforms in the region whilst they plead with their members to dialogue and find a common ground to resolve the issue. Read Full Story
