From Ernest Best Anane, Kumasi
Mr. Johnny Osei Kofi, Deputy Chief of Staff and National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Oforikrom in Kumasi, has cautioned the youth not to allow themselves to be used by selfish politicians to cause mayhem, before, during and after this year’s elections.
According to him, the youth are the future of this country and, for that matter, have a lot to do and achieve in life, and must not allow politicians to use them for achieving their selfish political interests in the name of winning elections.
Speaking at a meeting with the NDC ward executives at Deduako in the Oforikrom Constituency, he stressed that the future of the youth is very important to the President, John Dramani Mahama, and their parents, and would not want anyone to be injured or die because of elections.
He advised the youth not to engage themselves in anything that has the potential to endanger or jeopardise their lives and future.
He noted that the youth are still too young to die for politics, and entreated all concerned citizens to pray for those who have a hidden agenda of causing violence in the upcoming elections, to repent or die at their own peril.
He said the NDC, as political party, does not entertain violence and insults, and commended party supporters in the Ashanti Region for their loyalty.
He urged the NDC faithful to always preach peace and desist from all manner of violent acts.
