Ghana has recorded a total of 161 cases of the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), the Ghana Health Service has disclosed.
Published on its website, the number increased from the 152, after 9 new cases were recorded.
The Service said all 9 cases were reported from Accra; 3 of them traveled to Ghana within the past 14 days from Germany, France and Hungary respectively, but 6 of them had no travel history outside.
It added that the Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research (KCCR) also reported on tests from 77 samples including samples from 41 asymptomatic contacts of a case from Tamale Teaching Hospital and all were negative for the virus.
Again, 31 confirmed cases have significantly improved with no symptoms and have been discharged from admission for home care pending repetition of laboratory tests.
The service said this adds to the 18 that were earlier being managed from home and bring the number of cases on home care to 49.
Meanwhile, contact-tracing is ongoing amid enhanced laboratory testing as 1,185 contacts have been identified and are being followed up.
However, Ghana has recorded five deaths as a result of the COVID-19.
