She said John, thus, threatened to kill his wife; a deadly statement that informed Felicia to relocate to Asesewa, Eastern Region, to put up with her parents.
In order to get his wife return so that he could carry out his cruelty, Chief Superintendent Mensah said on March 25, 2020, John called his wife on the telephone, requesting her to come for their two children prior to the enforcement of the partial lockdown to the Coronavirus.
Obediently, the Commander said Felicia arrived at her matrimonial home last Sunday, however, John told her he had sent the children to Ashaiman to buy shoes before they travelled.
“But investigations revealed that the man had sent the children to his mother a day before his wife arrived,” she narrated.
The brother of Felicia, Chief Superintendent Suzan Mensah continued, went to the sister’s matrimonial home and after several unsuccessful search to find his sister, reported the matter to the police.
Chief Superintendent Mensah said: “The police took over investigation and noticed that the suspect had killed the woman and at midnight, buried her in an uncompleted building in the area where only the footing had been constructed. He covered the dead body with laterite to fill the foundation.”
The suspect was later picked up at the Tema General Hospital where he was reportedly referred by the Ashaiman Polyclinic where some neighbours had earlier rushed him for some stomach ache he severely complained about.
“Police started searching for the suspect. We went to his workshop where we were told he (John) complained of stomach problem and was rushed to the Ashaiman Polyclinic by some residents, but was later referred to the Tema General Hospital. He was apprehended by police on admission at the Tema General Hospital,” she explained.
