The Minister for Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, has indicated that 14 persons have tested positive out of over 7000 samples produced.
He made the announcement today when he met the press to brief them on government’s fight against the Coronavirus.
According to him, the 7,461 samples is part of the 15,384 samples due for testing for the virus.
He explained that the 15,384 are samples of contacts traced as part of efforts to “look for the virus.”
The Minister further urged Ghanaians to be calm and encouraged people not to get alarmed when they see the raw case count numbers go up.
“It is because we are aggressively going out there now in search of the virus, we will find these numbers. The more numbers we find the better we are for the health service to provide care for those who are sick. Please do not be alarmed,” he expatiated.
The country is currently in its second week of the two weeks lockdown, and in his 5th address on COVID-19, President Akufo-Addo, who hitherto had extended closure of Ghana’s borders, said that outcome of the test from the 15000 samples will determine the next decision whether to review the partial lockdown of the country or otherwise.
