The Founder and Chief Executive Officer of United Hearts Foundation, a non-governmental organisation (NGO), Mr Paul Elisha Asamoah, has distributed various relief items worth GH¢14,000 in support of the fight against the spread of the Coronavirus (Covid-19).
The items, which were meant to alleviate the plight of the beneficiaries in the heat of the Covid-19 pandemic, include bags of rice, cooking oil, soaps, face masks, sanitisers and veronica buckets.
In all, a total of 150 beneficiaries from four communities in the Awutu Senya West District, and they are, Awutu Bawjiase, Okwaabinaa, Fianku and Awutu Ankufu-Krodua.
Speaking to The Chronicle, Mr Asamoah, who is popularly known as Osofo Elisha, explained that; “In times like this, it is highly foreseeable that a lot of people will be disadvantaged.”
A lot more people will struggle to put heart and soul together, so we decided to offer our widow’s mite to some of these people in these difficult times,” he added.
He observed that many mothers who depended on buying and selling to cater for their home have been adversely affected by the social distancing order.
He, therefore, expressed the hope that the donated items would go a long way to, at least, ameliorate the lives of the beneficiaries by lessening their suffering.
According to Osofo Elisha, it has become clear that one person having the virus can infect a lot of people, hence, there was an urgent need for all to abide by the laid down protocols.
Adhering to the protocols, which include social distancing, staying at home, using hand sanitisers and wearing of face masks, he noted, were the best measures to fight the virus.
The Central Region has recorded 17 confirmed cases of the deadly coronavirus, a situation that many say calls from for stringent measures to curb its further spread.
