The Manhyia Divisional Police Command in Kumasi has arrested a wedded wife and her boyfriend for plotting to kill the former’s husband, with whom she has three children.
The cover of the suspects – Mavis Brepor, alias Maadwoa, 27, and her lover boy, Patrick Asare, 50, – was blown when Patrick Asare, whilst dialling the telephone number of the would-be assassin to execute their plans, mistakenly called that of the Manhyia Divisional Commander of Police, ACP Kwasi Buah.
Speaking at a media briefing in Kumasi yesterday, ACP Buah said, upon receipt of the call, he quickly realised the intention of Patrick Asare, and, therefore, feigned interest in the deal.
The suspect then offered him (ACP) GH¢100,000 to execute the illegality, which is, killing the husband of his girlfriend – David Gator, 52.
ACP Kwasi Buah said he quickly deployed undercover investigators and detectives to talk to the suspect.
ACP Buah revealed that it took the police about three to four weeks to lure the suspect into their fold from his base at Pameng, near Kwabeng, in the Eastern Region.
According to the Police Commander, the suspect decided to come to Kumasi for proper negotiations, after being convinced that they ‘killers’ did not know Pameng, and that they needed his assistance.
According to the police, the suspect admitted in his caution statement that he had indeed conspired with his girlfriend to kill her husband.
The suspects would soon be put before court.
