Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC) has presented a number of Information Communications Technology (ICT) items worth thousands of cedis to the management of Islamic Basic School at Hwidiem in the Asutifi South District, Ahafo Region to help improve the ICT knowledge of the pupils.
The items to equip the newly outdoored ICT Centre of the school include 10 set of computers, 10 Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS), Projector and other accessories.
In an interview with the Project Manager of GIFEC, Mr. Arnold Johnson, he said the government has a plan of opening ICT centres in all schools in the country to help boost the knowledge of children in the ICT.
According to GIFEC Project Manager, the supply of the equipment was facilitated by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for Asutifi South Constituency, Mr. Yaw Owusu –Brempong.
He told the managers of the school, especially those in charge of the ICT Centre and the community as a whole, to take good care of the items.
The Headmaster and the Founder of the school, Alhassan and Mallam Amadu thanked the government, GIFEC and the NPP Parliamentary Candidate for listening to their call for help.
“What has happened today indicates that the national cake is gradually being shared and it’s a plus to the NPP government” the two stated.
The two revealed that now the existing gab between pupils in the cities and rural areas concerning ICT is gradually dimising per what has occured.
They assured the donor and the Mr. Yaw Owusu-Brempong of taking good care of the items for them to last long for the pupils.
Mr. Yaw Owusu – Brempong, NPP Parliamentary Candidate for Asutifi South Constituency reiterated how the managed to lobby for two out the three ICT centres for the entire Ahafo Region.
Mr. Owusu-Brempong, who is also the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Venture Capital Trust Fund challenged the entire Zongo community at Hwidiem to make good use of the facility because currently one cannot excel as expected with little or no idea of ICT.
“Take the ICT Centre as your property to promote quality care of the items“, the Parliamentary Candidate urged the school’s managers.
He promised to assist the people of the Asutifi South Constituency in all diverse ways to bring development to the doorstep, just like how he has started.
