To You A Sir, Called John,
Why Should You At This Time Be Gone,
When The Elephants Will Need You To Lead In Our Victory Song?
Why, Oh, Why.
Today, Senior Opupulepu said I will be a goner,
If I do not say anything in your honour,
So I will, therefore, try to say just a few words,
Since I am already a man of few words
When you came out to lead the NPP, one thing everyone will remember you by, was your pair of shoes, which pointed out to high heavens, as if saying with pride, “I swear God!”
And certainly you called God to be your witness, as you started off with an unorthodox mannerism to match your bosom friend, the Mosquito-General Asiedu Nketiah of the NDC.
Your speech especially in Twi was beautifully coloured and flavoured with rich idioms, making your statements come out with that soundness that surpassed most words of wisdom.
Yes, we had reasons to laugh, but after that, everything will unfold into our mind and we depart forever enriched.
Your command over the power of speech made you stand out as that wise counsellor in a very important king’s court.
All that I can now is to sing this poem:
“You have gone home, today, to stay;
Where we only hope to meet one day;
You have gone from all that is evil, and all that is wrong;
To that blissful place to meet with the others called John.
You have departed to Heaven which isabove the skies so high;
But as we say our final good-bye
There will be no need for us to cry
Because you have gone to that place, where man shall never die”
From your friend to you, a Sir called John, stay Blessed with Jesus, in the Most Holy Sacrament of the Altar.
Amen!!!
Hon Daniel Dugan
