Manchester United are confident of signing Jadon Sancho and are still in talks with Borussia Dortmund over the England star – despite missing the German club’s deadline today.
The two sides are understood still to be far apart in terms of valuation, with Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke resolute in holding out for a huge £108million for their prized asset.
Sancho boarded the plane for Dortmund’s pre-season training camp in Switzerland at 9am this morning – a point at which the Bundesliga runners-up had said any deal with United would be off the table.
But Ed Woodward and the rest of the Old Trafford hierarchy are understood to be relaxed about the situation, insisting any deadline is purely artificial.
They know the England forward is desperate to sign for United, with personal terms expected to be a formality.
The hang up now is the agreement between the two clubs, both on the total fee itself and the structure of the deal in terms of bonus payments.
