The Chief Executive Officer of the Atta-Mills Institute, Samuel Koku Anyidoho, has said that his former boss, Prof John Evans Atta Mills, did not teach him how to insult former President Rawlings.
He has, however, asked those who, he said, were recruited and mentored to insult Rawlings to reside in their shame and disgrace.
“President Atta-Mills did not teach me how to insult Rawlings. Those who were recruited and taught how to insult Rawlings should live with their shame and disgrace,” he posted on Twitter.
Koku was reacting to portions of the book, ‘Working with Rawlings,” where he was mentioned as having given his version of Mill’s frustrations over Rawlings’ persistent public insults.
His reaction comes at a time when some young people, who were referred to in the book as being brought to respond to Rawlings whenever he spoke ill against Mills, have come out in denial.
Page 188 of Prof Ahwoi’s book talks about the headaches the late Prof Mills had over Rawlings attacks on his administration.
According to the book, President Mills did not hide his deep resentment at the way Rawlings persistently insulted him in public.
It adds that “Koku Anyidoho gives his own version of President Mills’ frustrations over this matter as follows: ‘Being the ever-forgiving and non-confrontational person President Mills was, he never called any of us his aides and asked us to go on a headlong collision with the Founder. On the contrary, he once told me never to be deceived by anybody into attacking Rawlings, because once I do that, it will be the end of my political career.”
In an earlier tweet, Koku had criticised Prof Ahwoi for referring to a document, he claimed was not published, as his source of material.
Koku was referring to one of the bibliographies captured at page 291 of Prof Ahwoi’s book. Koku highlighted the one that states: “Ahwoi Kwamena & Anyidoho Koku: In the service of God – A biography of Professor John Evans Atta Mills (unpublished),” this Koku posted a picture of from the book.
He posted a picture of that part and captioned, “so, Kwamena Ahwoi put out an unpublished material as a source document in his book? Phew!!!”
In an interview with an Accra-based radio station about two days to the 8th Anniversary since the demise of the late President Mills, Koku Anyidoho indicated that someone had hijacked a write up about Prof Mills, and warned it should be published or hell would break loose.
Though Koku did not mention who he was warning to publish the book, people’s minds have been drawn to the reference made in Ahwoi’s book.
