The General Secretary of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu, has inaugurated the Ashanti Regional Campaign Team of the party, with a call on the members to vigorously focus on the polling stations, which, he says, are the battle grounds.
He has further directed the party hierarchy in the Ashanti Region to set up electoral area campaign committees, which would be led by the Electoral Area Coordinator and all the polling station chairpersons under that electoral area.

He, however, noted that though the campaign was for all members of the party, not everybody would be involved in the planning.
“We have got [a] few people to lead the campaign, not because they have special qualities and experience which others are lacking, but for the purposes of focus and direction,” he said.
The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP, Mr. Bernard Antwi Bosiako, on his part, noted that they had set 90% votes target and also the winning of all the 47 seats.
According to Bernard Antwi Bosiako, who is affectionately known as Wontumi, in the 2016 General Elections the Ashanti NPP won forty-four seats of the 47 available, and mentioned New Edubiase and Tepa as the seats they captured from the NDC.
This year, the target is to capture the remaining seats – Asawase, Sekyere Afram Plains and Ejura – from the NDC.
Wontumi thanked John Boadu for the confidence reposed in him and his colleagues to lead the campaign in the Ashanti Region.
Chairman Wontumi heads the regional campaign team, with all the other 16 Ashanti Regional Executives of the party as members. Other members of the team include the Chief of Staff, Akosua Frema Opare; the Agric Minister, Dr. Owusu Afriyie; the Ashanti Regional Minister and his Deputy; the CEO for YEA, Justin Kodua; the Managing Director of ECG, Kwame Agyemang-Budu and Nana Ama Poku Kufour, the deputy CEO for Exim Bank.
The campaign team also includes Andy Owusu; Nana Agyemang Prempeh; Patricia Apiagyei; Osei Kwame Prempeh; Cecelia Abena Dapaah; Lawyer John Darko; Marilyn Yeboah; Dr. Oheneba Owusu-Danso; Maame Yaa Aboagye; Allen Gyimah; Issah Alhassan Adabuga; Robert Owusu Amankwa; Hon.
