Melcom Care of Melcom Group of Companies has provided decent washrooms and toiletries to improve hygiene and sanitation in three public schools in Ashaiman and Tema.
The schools were Ashaiman Presbyterian JHS, Tema Community Five Number 1 JHS and Kotobabi TMA School.
The selection of the beneficiary schools followed Melcom Care’s assessment of the dire hygiene situation the schools were confronted with as a consequence of the sorry states of their toilets.
Melcom Care’s assessment of the school’s enrollment determined the number of washroom projects it provided the beneficiaries.
As a result, Ashaiman Presbyterian JHS, with the least enrollment, was given three restroom projects, while the two Tema schools benefited from five each.
Godwin Avenorgbo, who is the Director of Communication for Melcom Group, on behalf of his employers, presented the projects to the schools, where all the recipient headmistresses expressed their school’s gratitude to Melcom Care for the huge support.
They promised to do their best to ensure that the facilities were well maintained.
Nonetheless, two schools where the facilities could be tampered with by the public and ruffians are the Ashaiman Presbyterian JHS and Kotobabi TMA School.
The two schools have no wall, so ruffians, drug users and footballers use the schools’ parks and corridors daily, even when school is in session.
These people could easily break the locks of the toilet facilities to make them messy after the schools have closed.
