A platform targeted at unearthing talents amongst the youth in the various communities in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis has been launched.
Known as ‘Home Makers Organisation’, the platform, initiated by Patrick Arthur, a Ghanaian based in Germany, will enable communities to elect leaders to spearhead development by way of creating a pool of talents and skills for development.
At a press launch on Friday, the initiator of the platform said the vision was to create a home for people, hence the name ‘Home Makers Organisation.’
Patrick Arthur said the home was the foundation of every human being, and “to have to create this Home, we need a man and a woman and every community.”
He said whilst it was the responsibility for the man and woman to provide shelter, food and a comfort zone for the child, it was equally the obligation and responsibility of the community to provide the man and woman a living sustenance that would enable them fulfill their obligation and responsibilities as parents.
Unfortunately, this was not the case, which stemmed from the fact that the community does not take its obligation of providing living sustenance for the people.
“It is in this light that the Home Makers Organisation was established, with a vision of creating a home for the people.”
The initiator of the platform, however, said his travelling overseas had made him realise and comprehend why some people, particularly the youth, go to bed on empty stomachs and others go to bed full and even throw excess food away.
Rev. John Ernest Kwofie, Regional Peace Council Chairman, who chaired the launch, lauded the initiator for bringing such a platform to the metropolis.
He said, as a priest, considering that the platform seeks to unearth talents, he could not have distanced himself from the launch.
