As part of activities to ensure peaceful elections on December 7, 2020, the Kintampo Municipal Assembly has observed a peace vigil. The vigil was also used to mark Africa Youth Day.
Various youth groups in the Municipality and representatives of the various political parties such as the New Patriotic Party (NPP), National Democratic Congress (NDC), Peoples National Convention (PNC), Progressive People’s Party (PPP), and Convention Peoples Party (CPP) attended the event.

The leaders of the various political parties in the area pledged to ensure peace before, during and after the December polls.
The speaker of the Kintampo Youth Parliament, Mr. Dangima Yaro, used the occasion to ask all the youth of the Municipality to be patriotic, and respect the leaders of country by avoiding vulgar language and hate speech during public interactions.
Mr Yaro advised the youth to use their energies to support the development of their communities and shun actions that would lead to chaos.
Mr. Joseph Nanga, a Communication Director of the NPP, urged the youth to go about their political activities in a manner that would safeguard the peace the country is enjoying.
“Election is not a do or die thing, so let the youth ensure there is peace before, during and after the polls,” he said.
The Municipal Officer for the Information Services Department, Madam Rufina Yuoni, asked women to campaign against politics of insults, since any time a country slips into chaos, it is women and children who suffer the most.
