President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has assured all Ghanaians that a second term of his administration would be used to build a more prosperous nation that would transform the lives of the citizenry.
According the President, a solid and formidable foundation had been laid in his first term that has transformed every sector of the Ghanaian economy to enviable status.
In view of his pragmatic policies and social intervention programmes that have disentangled the economy from the mismanagement of the previous regime, Ghanaians must give him another term in office, he added.
President Akufo-Addo made this known on the first day of his two-day campaign tour of the Central Region, when he addressed a durbar in his honour at Gomoa Budumburam in the Gomoa East District.
Addressing the durbar, President Akufo-Addo stated that he made certain promises to the Ghanaian people during the 2016 electioneering campaign, which included the famous free Senior High School (SHS).
He explained that Ghanaians listened to his message of hope and trusted him with their votes, which led to his party’s heavy win against the then ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) government.
He posited that those promises had been fulfilled by his government upon assuming power, and therefore, deserved another term to do more.
“… Second term, we are going to build a house of prosperity that is going to change the destiny of our country and transform the lives of our people,” President Akufo-Addo promised.
He further assured the chiefs and the people in the area that a second term of his administration would address the heavy vehicular traffic congestion that has bedeviled the area.
Introducing the parliamentary candidate for the area, Nana Addo noted that as a first term member of Parliament (MP), Mr Asemanyi had not performed badly, adding that he had been excellent in Parliament.
President Nana Addo, therefore, called on the people to vote massively for him as the presidential candidate of the NPP, and Mr Kojo Asemanyi as the party’s parliamentary candidate.
The Member of Parliament of the area, Mr Kojo Asemanyi, stated that the people of Gomoa have had their fair share of the national cake, in terms of development, under the current administration, led by Nana Addo.
In his view, the NPP, as a political party, could best be described as the development agent for the people of Gomoa land, due to the fact that the area benefited any time the NPP was in power.
Mr Asemanyi, who is seeking a second term in office as MP, alleged that seven out of every ten developmental initiatives in the Gomoa area were done by the NPP government.
He, therefore, urged the people to turn out on December 7th and vote massively for the NPP to retain the government in power for more development.
He gave an assurance that the people of Gomoa would vote massively for the ruling party, come December 7th, to change the political narrative of the area.
“After December 7th, Gomoa East will become a stronghold of the NPP, and the NDC will not be able to lay their hands on the parliamentary seat again,” he stressed.
