The New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Adansi Akrofuom Constituency in the Ashanti Region has organised a health screening exercise for the people in the area to enable them know their health status, ahead of the December 7 elections.
Speaking to the media, the District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr. Maurice Jonas Woode, said even though the screening initiative was the brainchild of the party, the exercise was free and non-political and required that every citizen avail himself or herself to be screened. Over 200 people were screened for diabetes, blood pressure, and eye problems.
The leader of the medical team, Dr. Richard Quarshie, noted that those whose conditions were seen to be abnormal were referred for full medical examinations to be conducted on them.
He expressed happiness that many people turned out to be screened, and described the exercise as very successful.
A 70-year-old, Madam Ama Anokyewaa, and 65-year-old Mr. Yaw Frimpong, who were among those screened, thanked the medical team and the party for making it possible for them to know their health status.
