The Atronie Traditional Authority has renewed its support for the Sunyani Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Justina Owusu Banahene, in her quest to further enhance the development of the Municipality.
The Chief of Atronie, Nana Amponsem Darko II, who gave the assurance, was leading the traditional authority in its deliberations with the MCE on developmental issues, including education ( Technical and Vocational), environment, access roads, youth development, forest concession, water, extension of electrification projects, and accommodation for police officers in the area among others.
Nana Aponsem Darko told the MCE that nananom (chiefs) played a very important role in local governance, and appealed to her to engage them to use their powers and influence they wield at the local level to help ensure the smooth running of the assembly and the development process of the municipality.
Madam Owusu Banahene called on nananom to impress on their people to desist from making statements that can further divide society, since electioneering was over.
The MCE also appreciated the Atronie Traditional Authority for contributing its quota to the development of the area.
She appealed to nananom to continue to support the Municipal Assembly in its developmental quest to make living conditions better for the people in the area.
Madam Owusu Banahene told nananom that the government had put in place several interventions to support communities that undertake self-help projects to improve their living standards.
Owusu Banahene urged the chiefs and the people of Atronie to take stock of their achievements and build on them.
She said the Nana Akufo-Addo government was leaving no stone unturned to develop the rural communities, adding that the Sunyani Municipal Assembly was doing all it could to construct more classroom blocks and health facilities, among others, to ease education and health problems facing the rural communities within the municipality.
According to her, several feeder roads in the municipality would be rehabilitated to facilitate easy movement of farm produce to the market centers.
Madam Owusu Banahene later urged farmers to organise themselves into groups to enable them access loans from the Micro Finance Small Scale Loan Centre (MASLOC) to expand their farming businesses to reduce poverty.
