The Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation, in partnership with the Ashanti Professionals Club, has donated quantities of exercise books and school bags to eight selected Junior High Schools (JHS) in deprived and remote communities in the Atwima Nwabiagya South District of the Ashanti Region.
The beneficiary schools included Nkwakom M/A JHS, Kyereyaase M/A JHS, Nkontomire, Asakraka, Amadum Adankwame, Ahwiaa, Ntabanu and Akuapem MA/JHS.
Each student in all the beneficiary schools received a school bag and five exercise books to support their education.
The Foundation’s newly appointed Executive Director, Nana Afia Kobi Prempeh, used the opportunity to interact with the students, and stressed the need for the students to adhere to all the COVID-19 protocol the government has adopted for their safety against the Coronavirus disease.
Nana Afia Kobi stressed that Otumfuo’s commitment towards promoting education in the Ashanti Kingdom and Ghana since his ascension to the Asante Golden Stool, and said that the commitment remains unchanged.
“Promoting education is one of his (Otumfuo)’s major priorities, hence, the decision to partner with Ashanti Professionals Club and support the school children,” she stressed.
The Executive Director urged the school children to adhere to all the adopted protocols the Education Ministry has put in place for their personal safety against the virus by wearing nose masks, hand washing and observing physical social distancing.
The school children praised the Asantehene for the gesture and the surprise of the distribution of goodies.
The Circuit Supervisor for the Atwima Nwabiagya South, Edward Adjei Twum, commended the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation for the wonderful support to the children in these deprived communities where they manage to take care of their children besides buying books for them.
