Harry Kane wants to leave Tottenham, that much is clear. The 27-year-old is coming to the end of another trophyless season with Spurs, which has proved one too many. So, what are Kane‘s options this summer?
Premier League stay is most likely
The Premier League’s biggest clubs, namely Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea, would be more able to afford him than anyone else. In terms of personal preference, City offer Kane the best chance of winning silverware. The prospect of playing for United is a tantalising one for any player and, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer lacking a long-term striking option, Kane could certainly fill a hole – and more.
It may be Chelsea, though, who come up with the highest bid this summer. Switching Spurs for Stamford Bridge is not the easiest move politically, though.
LaLiga Santander’s economic barrier
Kane‘s contract with Tottenham doesn’t expire until 2024, which means chairman Levy can command quite the transfer fee for his star striker. Sky Sports say the forward is worth at least 120 million pounds, though Spurs are expected to charge more.
That leaves Real Madrid and Barcelona, the former linked particularly strongly with Kane in years gone by, virtually out of the picture. Neither can afford the Englishman without selling some of their prized assets first.
PSG’s Pochettino pull
The appointment of Mauricio Pochettino by Paris Saint-Germain earlier this season might have been seen as a ploy to attract some of his former Tottenham players. Hugo Lloris and Dele Alli were initially linked with moves to the Parc des Princes and now it’s Kane‘s turn.
PSG are one of the few clubs able to afford the 27-year-old this summer, while none of his other suitors can offer Pochettino as their coach. The Argentine got the very best out of Kane during their time together in England.
