The Amansie Central Youth Association (ACYA) is calling on the government to, as a matter of urgency, come to the aid of the district by re–activating work on abandoned roads in the area. Mr. John Ankrah, president of the association, noted at a press conference at Jacobu that the district cannot boast of a kilo meter of a well-constructed road.
He mentioned specifically that before the 2020 elections contractors were on the Jacobu to Biribiwomanmu road, Jacobu to Fiankoma road,Jacobu to Nkoduaso road and Jacobu to Esekasu road, but work has stopped on all these projects.
He stated that the Jacobu town roads which was also awarded on contract has also suffered similar fate, leaving the trenches as a death trap.
The President of the association threatened that if nothing is done about the state of the roads, the youth will advise themselves.
On sanitation, Mr. Ankrah said the situation was getting worse by the day because workers of Zoomlion have not been paid their salaries for the past eight months to enable them to discharge their duty of cleaning the district effectively. He urged the authorities to be up and doing to save the district from filth.
Touching on education, Mr. Ankrah mentioned lack of tables and chairs in most basic schools in the district. He stated that six unit classroom blocks at Akatakyieso, six unit classroom block at Jacobu Experimental and a dining hall project at Jacobu Senior High School have been left uncompleted.
Mr. Ankrah also complained of the unavailability of network in almost 70%of communities in the district.
“Communication is very key in the sustainability of every business and other related economic activities and, for that matter, the entire district should not be denied the facility”, he stated.
He also mentioned that unstable power supply has been a headache to the people of Amansie Central over the years.
According to him, a lot of people have complained about the issue but no permanent measures have been taken to solve the problem.
“We are appealing to our President Nana Akufo-Addo, the Roads Minister, the Ashanti Regional Minister and the Regional NPP Chairman to come to our aid to find solution to our numerous problems”, the union President added.
