Mauricio Pochettino is desperate to secure a return to Tottenham as in talks over a sensational return to the north London club, according to reports.
Pochettino was sacked by Daniel Levy in 2019 after a five-year stint at the club that had seen them involved in two Premier League title races and reach the Champions League final.
He took charge at Paris Saint-Germain in January, replacing now-Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel, picking up his first major trophy as a manager after winning the Coupe de France.
However, he failed to secure the Ligue 1 title, with Lille securing the French championship on the final day of the season, and it is reported that the Argentine is unhappy with the inner workings of the French club.
According to the Athletic, the Argentine has held talks with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy over the possibility of a return and is keen on the idea of moving back to the UK capital.
A large part of Pochettino’s thinking is down to the lack of control he has at PSG – something his predecessor Tuchel also struggled with.
They also report that players are aware of the situation and are excited at the prospect of the 49-year-old’s return. However, the French television channel TF1 insist that, while Pochettino has been ‘disappointed’ with some aspects of life in Paris, PSG have no intention of letting him go, meaning he must resign from his role at the Ligue 1 club.
Spurs have been without a head coach since April after parting company with Jose Mourinho.
