The members of Kuntunase Royal Ayoko family have called the National House of Chiefs (NHC), Eastern Regional Security Council (REGSEC) and Kwahu South Municipal Security Council (MUSEC) to enforce the eviction of Atibiehene, Barima Kwame Asante Betiani II from the palace.
The called was made at a press conference organised by members of Kuntunase Royal Ayoko family at Atibie, led by the Adehyiehene, Nana Somuah Abredu I on Saturday.
The Adehyiehene alleged at the press conference that AtibieheneBarima Kwame Asante Betiani II hails from Pampaso family of Atibie and, therefore, not a royal.
The Chronicle does not, however, have any evidence to support this claim by the chief against Atibiehene.
The press conference was attended by representatives of some towns in Kwahu, namely Kwahu Abene, Tafo, Pitiko, Nkwatia, Pepease, Obo, Abetifi, Obomeng and some adikrofuor of Atibie stool lands.
The Adehiehene mentioned that they have served many petitions to all relevant institutions with the oversight responsibilities of chieftaincy matters, but little or no effort has been made to ensure that the chief vacates the palace.
Supporting his position that the Atibiehene is not a chief of the area, Nana Somuah Abredu I indicated that on 26/09/19, the Kuntunase Royal Ayoko family requested for the removal of Barima Kwame Asante Betani II from the National Register of Chiefs, which was granted with extract from the national Register of Chiefs S/No 2680.
The Adehyiehene stated that, “I am highly disturbed and surprised that a chief whose name has been removed from the National Register of Chiefs could be delegated to represent the paramount Chiefs during the sod cutting for the construction of Nkawkaw Sports Stadium in 2020.”
Another incident, he mentioned, was the inauguration of the renovated Parra-gliding ground at Atibie in 2020, as well as printing calendars with his image boldly on it and inscriptions advertising himself as Atibiehene.
To him, Bennet Osei Omari’s (Atibiehene) behaviour emanates from the absolute support he enjoys from the prominent chiefs in the area.
“If you over floga horse, it resorts to violence. We are fed up with Bennet Osei Omai’s provocation and we are ready to reciprocate his gesture. One man’s action at a time is the reaction of another man’s action in a past time”
He averred that, ‘It will do us great relief and service if you could use your good offices to compel Bennet Osei Omari to comply with the directives of the National House of Chiefs, dated 28th January, 2020 and vacate the palace as early as possible”
According to Adehyiehene of Atibie, the then DISEC on Tuesday, 6th February 2018 unanimously resolved to close the Atibie palace to ensure peace and protection of life and properties at Atibie.
When contacted to respond to the issues raised by the Adehyiehene, the Atibiehene, Barima Kwame Asante Betiani II, described the former as a ‘mad man’ and that he (chief) does not know him (Adehyiehene).
He continued that, “I have my own Adehyiehene and I don’t want you to call me again”, he warned and then dropped the call”
