The Ashaiman Divisional Police Command has identified Carl’s Hotel, at Bethlehem, a town in the Kpone-Katamanso Municipality as a transit point for the distribution of drugs suspected to be marijuana.
This was after four persons were busted by police personnel from the Ashaiman Divisional Police Command for unlawful possession or control of the narcotic plants.
The suspects’ names were given as Boniface Abaya and Kwame Akwetey, both 31, Samuel Djandu, 30, Godwin Agbesi, 29 and a driver, whose vehicle was impounded for conveying the narcotic plants.
In a release sent to The Chronicle by Inspector Stella Dzakpasu, the Public Relations Officer for the Tema Regional Police Command said at about 3.30pm of June 4, 2021, the Ashaiman Divisional Command, upon intelligence, arrested the four suspects for attempting to smuggle 892 illicit substance suspected to be marijuana, being conveyed in a Benz truck with registration number GR 2913-G.
She said actionable intelligence led to the arrest of the suppliers, who used Carl’s Hotel at Bethlehem, Kpone-Katamanso Municipality, as a transit point to distribute the illicit substance to other suppliers.
Inspector Dzakpasu noted that the exhibits had been retained and suspects detained for further investigations.
“The police are on high alert and are ready to respond and act on intelligence good citizens shall continue to send to us. We encourage the citizenry to continue to keep faith in the Ghana Police Service,” Inspector Stella Dzakpasu assured Ghanaians.
