The Methodist Education Unit in the Volta region has awarded 33 teachers, Circuit Supervisors and pupils at a ceremony held in Ho under the theme: “Celebrating Quality Teachers and its Impact on Our Children.”
Speaking at the ceremony, the Acting Ho Municipal Chief Executive, Mr. Prosper Pii Bansah commended the Methodist Education Unit for organizing the programme, which he noted would go a long way to motivate teachers to work harder.
It will also create a healthy competition among school children thereby helping to improve performances in schools.
Mr. PiiBansah, therefore, asked pupils and students to take advantage of the opportunities created and learn hard to enable them to become responsible adults in future.
According to him, it was important for pupils, students and all others to observe the coronavirus protocol to ensure that they protect themselves against it.
The MCE said government has created the enabling environment for education to thrive and that it was important for the youth to embrace the numerous opportunities available to them.
This, he stressed, would enable them to prepare adequately to take up the task ahead of them in future.
The Bishop of the Tema Diocese of the Methodist Church, Rt. Rev. Samuel Ofori Akyea, urged parents to train their children well to complement the efforts the church was making to provide holistic education for them.
The overall best teacher for the Junior High School level was Mr. Desmond Ahorlu. He was rewarded with a school bag, books and a citation.
The overall winner for the primary level in the Volta region went to Ms. Dorcas Lutor from the Peki Methodist Basic School. She took away a school bag, a medal, books and a citation.
