BRIEF FACTS:
The prosecuting officer, Chief Inspector John Gohoho, told the court that the complainants were police officers from the Regional Police Intelligence Department of the Regional Headquarters in Accra.
He said Martin Opare was a personal driver of one Millicent Tei, a Cashier at Latex Foam Ghana Limited.
However, about three months ago, Martin told the auto mechanic that Millicent had been carrying huge sums of monies from her work place to the company’s main head office every day, and that could he could organise a gang to rob her off the money.
The auto mechanic also approached the trader if he knew people who could attack and rob Millicent.
Mensah also assured Asante that he could organise two or more guys to rob Millicent Tei off the company’s sales.
To execute the plan, Mensah went to the Konkomba Market near Agbogbloshie and approached two people who are witness in this case to join them to rob the Cashier.
The witnesses also feigned interest and informed the police about the alleged plot.
On May 5, 2023, Martin met Asante at his workplace at Avenor to discuss the robbery.
On May 11, at about 12:40pm, the accused persons met at Las Palmas Food Joint at Circle with the two witnesses to help them rob the Cashier.
While they were planning the robbery, the police arrived at the scene and arrested them.
During interrogation, the accused persons admitted in their cautioned statements that they were planning to rob the said Cashier.
The accused persons were charged and arraigned before court while the case is still under investigation.
The next date for hearing is May 30.
