In a diplomatic tit-for-tat, the Government of Ghana has deported three Israeli nationals following the alleged ill-treatment and unjustified deportation of three Ghanaians by Israeli authorities.
The move comes as Ghana seeks to defend the dignity and rights of its citizens abroad. According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the three Israelis arrived in Ghana earlier today and were promptly deported in response to the actions of Israeli officials.
“The Government of Ghana will continue to safeguard the dignity of its nationals and also that of other nationals,” the statement read.
The Ministry confirmed that the Chargé d’Affaires ad Interim of the Embassy of the State of Israel was summoned to the Ministry, as the Israeli Ambassador to Ghana is currently out of the country. Both governments have reportedly agreed to work towards an amicable resolution of the dispute.
Ghana emphasized that it values its relations with all friendly countries and expects that its citizens will be treated with the same dignity and respect that Ghana extends to foreign nationals.
The incident highlights ongoing tensions in diplomatic relations and underscores Ghana’s commitment to protecting its citizens overseas.
