The District Chief Executive for Pru West, Mr. Samuel Agyapong, has assured Abease community, the headmaster and students of Abease and Prang Senior High Schools of the Assembly’s commitment to addressing the water problem facing them.
He said the Assembly, with the backing of the Mahama-led Government, would do its best to solve the water crisis facing the two Senior High Schools and the people.
The DCE, who was speaking to the media at Abease, in the Bono East Region, recently hoped the provision of potable drinking water for the SHS will help them concentrate on their studies and improve learning.
He frowned on the situation where students spend most of their time searching for water from distant sources outside the campuses.
According to him, the current situation has contributed to breakdown in discipline as school authorities find it difficult controlling students.
The DCE maintained that the E-Blocks constructed by the previous NDC administration would be maintained to enhance education in the area.
Obrempong Kru Takyi II, the Paramount Chief of Abease Traditional area, appealed to the government to consider providing the community with a reliable water system since water is essential in the life of mankind.
“We are counting on the Government to fix the water crisis and save the situation”, the chief pleaded.
The Headmaster of Abease SHS, Mr. Samuel Donaldson, confirmed the plight of students saying the school relies on one bole hole constructed by a Non-Governmental Organisation which is shared with the entire community on shifting basis.
He appealed to the authorities and all concerned Ghanaians and Philanthropist to support the Government in providing decent source of water and water closets for the school.
