Government is seeking parliamentary approval to contract five separate loans totaling US$235 million to finance some developmental projects.
The loans are a US$40 million facility for a proposed tourism development project, US$50 million to finance the Ghana Commercial Agriculture Project and a 1,680,816,000 Japanese Yen (equivalent to US$15 million) for the construction of Advanced Research Centre for Infectious Diseases at the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research (NMIMR) at the University of Ghana.
The rest are US$35 million to fund the proposed Public Sector Reform for Results Project and a US$95 million facility to finance the Establishment and Strengthening of Agricultural Mechanisation Service Centres.
The government is also seeking the approval of the House for a US$2.8 million tax waiver on project materials and equipment to be imported in respect of the construction the Advanced Research Centre for Infectious Diseases at the NMIMR.
The papers for the loans were laid on the floor of the House in Accra, yesterday by the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta.
Other businesses of urgent nature the House is expected to consider during the five-day urgent meeting are the approval or otherwise of the four vetted Supreme Court Justice Nominees and the vetting of ministers and deputy ministers designate.
Consideration of bills like the Minerals Income Investment Fund Bill, 2018 and the Right to Information Bill, 2018 would also continue.
Per the business statement for the emergency meeting ending Friday, September 28, 2018, the House may also consider the report of the Committee on Mines and Energy on the controversial AMERI deal.
The House was called from recess to sit for the five days to consider some urgent businesses that were not completed during the last meeting.
