The Regional Commander for Tema Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD), Chief Superintendent Joseph Owusu-Bempah, has cautioned that the police will ruthlessly deal with recalcitrant drivers, who drive carelessly and violate traffic regulations on the stretch.
He lamented that drivers violate traffic rules, while others reverse on the motorway, contrary to the Ghana Highway Code.
Speaking in an interview with the Ghanaian Times, Chief Superintendent (Chief Sup) Owusu-Bempah expressed displeasure that some trucks, which carry iron rods, containers, stones, sand, and food stuffs pose danger to road users.
“When a driver refuses to properly secure his load, it can easily fall off and other drivers have to suffer for their actions,” the regional MTTD boss said.
Chief Sup. Owusu-Bempah, appealed to road users to bear with the police since such checks would be in the interest of the nation.
He cautioned drivers to be on the alert because the police would spring a surprise on them.
