A Naturopathic Doctor, Mr Emmanuel Kwame Asenso has drawn a strong linkage between an efficient educational system and a healthy populace.
He has thus called for a complete overhaul of the current educational system which he believed was based on foreign and borrowed cultures “if we are to build a healthy society.”
Speaking at a news conference to highlight the need to turn to alternative natural medications to control the surge in public health diseases across the country, the specialist recommended the inclusion of “nature study” at all levels of the educational system.
“Nature study including traditional meal preparation and use of our evergreen resources should be taught at all levels. All Ghanaians from birth should be taught primary prevention of disease in a culturally sensitive manner using the physical laws of health,” he said.
Attributing the cause of most diseases in the country including malaria to toxins in the body, Dr Asenso called for the addition of detoxification as a course of study in the curriculum of health training institutions.
To him, “there is a serious need for the creation of a Ministry for Natural and Cultural health,” to oversee the harnessing of Ghana’s vegetation and resources in such a way that citizens became healthier, consuming “our own raw materials and products.”
Dr Asenso, justifying his own theory that malaria was not caused by plasmodium but rather filth in the liver, urged government to adopt the Manyanoha Malaria be gone Programme (MNMP) as a national strategy to eradicate the disease in the country.
The MNMP, developed by him, is a specific detox mechanism to remove filth from the liver which produces malaria-like symptoms in a person.
Though the assertion has been debunked by the Ghana Health Service (GHS) which insisted that the malaria was caused by the parasite, Plasmodium, Dr Asenso blamed the GHS stance on “the West and their scientists who do not have any solution for the complete eradication of malaria as so far all their efforts have failed miserably.”
“The sure solution for the complete eradication of malaria if we are serious is the MNMP which is a liver specific detox programme. We should look outside the conventional box to cure or eliminate the killer disease,” he argued.
Dr Asenso further cautioned against bad diet and unhealthy lifestyles, particularly among the youth to promote longevity among Ghanaians.
Naturopathy is a system of alternative medicine based on the theory that diseases can be successfully treated or prevented without the use of drugs but by techniques such as control of diet, exercise, and massage.
