The entertainment aspect of the Bukom Fist of Fury Boxing League and Championship Fight Nights was launched at the M J Grand Hotel at East Legon in Accra on Friday night.
Moses Foh Amoaning, former Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) president who launched the programme alongside Mr George Lamptey, president of the Ghana Boxing Federation (GBF), D. K Poison, Ghana’s first world boxing champion, Lord Acquaye, treasurer of the GBA, Amanzeba Nat Brew and Steve Ashie, president of the Ghana Boxing Supporters Union (GBSU) said the concept was to identify and groom the nation’s next generations of champions.
According to Mr Foh-Amoaning, boxing is a show business, and all the pomp and pageantry must be brought on board to give fans something to talk about.
He said the league will be spiced with entertainment, food and fashion by well trained cooks, designers, models and underground musicians.
D.K. Poison urged Ghanaians to come to the arena to watch the future champions and endorse the concept.
Mr George Lamptey, the GBF president was hopeful that through the event, new talented designers, artistes and models would emerge on the scene and stressed that the league would create employment opportunities for many.
After the speeches, the launch was climaxed with a series of performances from Amanzeba who performed some of his popular tunes before leaving the stage for young and upcoming talents such as Una Dayona, Papa Row, Mr Wise and King Dauda.
The league will start on Friday October 12, 2018.
