Lacazette celebrating his equaliser against Liverpool
ALEXANDRE Lacazette’s classy equaliser gave Arsenal a point against Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool in what was a high-tempo, dramatic encounter at the Emirates.
The Reds looked set for all three points after taking the lead through James Milner’s second half strike, making the most of a mistake from goalkeeper Bernd Leno, but the Gunners hit back late on to claim a share of the spoils.
Arsenal had the better of the first half, but should have fallen behind when Sadio Mane found the net after Roberto Firmino had struck the woodwork. The goal was chalked off for offside, but replays showed that Mane had been onside in the second phase of play.
Lacazette also had a goal, correctly, chalked off for offside before Virgil Van Dijk came close to giving the visitors the lead on the stroke of half-time, hitting the post with a header from a free-kick Leno was nowhere near.
James Milner did break the deadlock on 61 minutes, finishing from 20 yards out after Leno flapped at a cross from Mane, but Arsenal equaliser with just eight minutes left, with Lacazette turning back on himself to curl a finish past Alisson Becker and into the far corner of the net.
The result keeps Arsenal in touch at the top of the table, while Liverpool remain unbeaten and go temporarily to the top of the table. – Eurosport
