Mr Etornam James Flolu, the new District Chief Executive of Afajato South, has assured the youth of better livelihoods during his tenure of office.
This, he intends to do by mechanising agriculture to improve their yields under the Planting for Food and Jobs by the government.
Through this, he said, they could increase their acreages, thus increase their products to have more to feed themselves with the surplus being left for processing.
It would also enable them to generate jobs as well as earn more income.
Mr Flolu was saying this during his maiden tour of the district to announce his presence and listen to the problems on the ground.
He said education will enlighten the youth to partake in any fruitful projects in life, and encouraged parents to send their children to school.
He asked them to take advantage of the Free Senior High School programme of the government, and to also consider technical and vocational education which should not be described as only fit for the dropouts.
He said he had noticed the problems facing them and said through their co-operation, they will be solved.
During his tour of the 11 traditional areas, the chiefs complained about their allowances, which were not being paid to them.
The DCE asked them to assist him to generate more internal funds to meet their needs.
Mr Flolu who was recently nominated to the post by the President, was confirmed by a one round vote of 90 per cent by the 30-member Assembly.
