The induction service for the new Clerk of the General Assembly of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana (EPCG), Rev. Dr Lawson Dzanku was held at the Dela Cathedral at Ho-Kpodzi yesterday.
Rev. Dr Dzanku, 52, was until his election to that post in August last year, the Synod Moderator of the Central Western Presbytery of the church, with its headquarters in Takoradi.
In a sermon preceding the induction, Rt Rev. Dr Lt. Col. B.D.K. Agbeko (rtd), Moderator of the General Assembly of EPCG said that who God appointed to a particular task, God protected him.
“So, who Jah blesses, no one can curse,” he added.
He, entreated the entire congregation to throw their weight behind Rev Dr. Dzanku and support him to perform his duties as Clerk of the General Assembly efficiently.
Rev. Dr Agbeko said that God made extraordinary things out of the ordinary people and things, adding that the new Clerk of the General Assembly was a living testimony to that accession.
He congratulated Rev. Dr Dzanku for his ascension to the post of the Clerk of the General Assembly of the EPCG and urged him to be inspired by his experience as minister of God over the years to rise to greater heights and attain great feats for the church.
“Success in God’s ministry is not by academic grades by but by God’s grace,” he added.
Rev. Dr Dzanku, a married father of six, who hails from Akrofu-Agorve, near Ho, holds a Diploma in Ewe and English from the University College of Education Winneba, in addition to a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in African Studies from the University of Ghana.
He had his PhD in 2019 in Religion and Human Values from the University of Cape Coast (UCC).
His research work was on the Contributions of the E.P. Church, Ghana to the Socio-Economic Development of the Asogli State.
