THE 18th Ghana Property Awards was held in Accra on Saturday under the theme: “Celebrating Excellence in Efficient Land Banking for National Prosperity.”
The annual event, which seeks to recognise industry players in housing and property, saw Elegant Homes and General Construction Limited emerge for the fourth consecutive time as the Best Residential Developer – Middle Income (Luxurious) 2025 winner.
The company was awarded for delivering exceptional residential projects for Ghana’s middle-income market, where these projects combined superior design, finishing, and lifestyle-focused amenities, redefining quality housing within the middle-income segment.
The other award winners were in the categories of Best Real Estate Management Firm of the Year 2025, Best Survey and Engineering Firm – Infrastructure Projects of the Year, and Diaspora Mortgage Provider of the Year.
The rest of the awardees included Trusted Real Estate Broker of the Year, Management and Advisory Property Company of the Year, and Property Developer with Potentials 2025.
The Director of the Ghana Property Awards (GAPOA), Ms Irene Agyenkwa, in an address, said Ghana’s property market has demonstrated remarkable adaptability despite global economic challenges.
These challenges, she mentioned, included access to finance, regulatory clarity, and infrastructure gaps, but these challenges present opportunities for collaboration, policy innovation, and bold leadership.
Ms Agyenkwa advocated the need for land banking as a national priority to build a property sector that would be resilient and transformative. She commended the nominees and award winners for putting Ghana’s property market ever brighter on the global stage.
In a speech read on his behalf, the Minister of Works, Housing and Water Resources, Mr Kenneth Adjei, disclosed that the ministry was working closely with traditional authorities, local assemblies, and private developers to establish mechanisms that safeguard land for housing, industrial growth, and social amenities.
He said this was a task that the government could not do alone, hence the need for active participation of investors, surveyors, architects, and developers together to transform land banking from a fragmented practice into a coordinated national strategy to secure Ghana’s future.
The Minister urged all stakeholders to treat land not as a speculative asset but as a shared heritage and a strategic resource for national progress.
