Adewale Mayowa Emmanuel aka Mayorkun is set to headline the 2017 Miss Nigeria Ghana beauty pageant on November 10, at the main auditorium of the National Theatre, Accra.
Mayorkun is one of Nigeria's fast-rising artistes who started his music career way back in school.
After his graduation, he worked in a bank for a year to fulfil his national service duty before embracing music fully.
Mayorkun once recorded a song using his cousin’s piano in late December 2015 and he shared it on social media in 2016, drawing Davido to the musical talent.
Davido subsequently signed him to his record label, the HKN Music and DMW.
His first single, ‘Butty Babe’ was made in 2012, but his first official single under HKN Music and DMW was, “Eleko”, which gained over a million views in just a few days after its release on YouTube.
Eleko also topped the iTunes chart as the number one that same period.
He won the 2016 Nigerian Teen Choice Award for Choice New Song of the Year, the City People Entertainment Award for Most Promising Act of the Year and The Headies ‘Rookie of the Year’ award.
His current reigning single, “Mama” is said to be the toast of Nigerians and hopefully, when he comes to perform next week Friday, he shall leave affection in the hearts of patrons, fans and Ghana at large.
The Miss Nigeria Ghana pageant is designed for young Nigerian ladies who are over eighteen years and Ghanaians of half Nigerian parentage.
It is aimed at organizing these young beauties towards a new order of projecting and defining Nigeria’s diverse socio-cultural heritage to the people of Ghana, thereby fostering a more cordial relationship among Nigerians and Ghanaians.
The winner gets a brand-new car, and over Ghc30,000 in prizes will be shared among the finalists.
Also, the winner of the pageant will embark on a one-year community engagement service, in a show of appreciation and a way of giving back to the host nation, Ghana.
The event has the endorsement of the Nigeria High Commission in Ghana.
